What
Access Reviews solution in Laika enables admins to quickly and effectively ensure only appropriate employees have access to key systems. I worked with another product designer to design an integrated SaaS tool that removes the need for spreadsheets and back-and forth-emails with internal stakeholders and auditors.
Why
Manual Access Reviews are slow and costly. Laika’s customers were relying on spreadsheets and manual evidence collection leading to higher customer service hours, inefficient formatting and increased time to audit. There was also a lot of back and forth between the auditors, CX members and customers. No effective way to collaborate was another problem that surfaced during customer calls.
How
I worked with another designer on the interaction and visual design of the flow. We experimented with multiple flows optimized for efficiency, error prevention and ease of use in various degrees. After a lot of design reviews, the final flow semi-automates evidence collection for access reviews by leveraging integrations with external vendors. We also incorporated a way to include multiple reviewers on one vendor to support collaboration, making the process more seamless.
Potential Impact
The aim is to reduce the time it takes to collect evidence for conducting access reviews for all our customers. It will also lead to more efficient audits because of structured reports generated as automated evidence. Customer services members will spend less time on queries related to access reviews. One of our main competitors also supports automated access reviews, so this feature will also help boost sales against them.
Continuous Improvement
The feature is in beta release right now with 5 customers and we are collecting feedback to make the flow easier. Alpha release is planned for Q3 2023. We are also identifying and prioritizing integrations to support over the next few quarters based on customer data and demand.
